Carmelita Garden

San Francisco

Carmelita-colors-Ryan reduced.jpg

The landscape design for this typical San Francisco flat used plants and stone to create a mosaic of color and texture as seen from the raised platform of the house’s three levels. The sense of depth in the garden was heightened using topography and changes in movement. Existing materials, such as broken concrete slabs, were reused as contrasts to concrete plinths supporting a new fence.
