Per the client’s brief, a rather unruly garden of shade-tolerant plantings enveloping a modern, glass-walled house. The grasses, informal hedges, and groves of trees afford privacy for the clients and maximize the feeling of living within the garden. A green-tiled swimming pool stretches across the width of the site, and fills the space between the main and guest houses. At one end, a raised spa spills over a wall and under a walking bridge that spans the pool and connects the house and the alley behind. An ocean-friendly garden with free range plants and no pesticides or herbicides.
